Teddy Kennedy and John McCain musings

I see John McCain won Florida. Finally a win for John McCain. His many media friends are making this a national holiday. I wonder if Mike Huckabee's friend Texas Walker, Chuck Norris didn't accidentally help McCain. How so? By saying to the aging snowbirds of FL that John McCain was too old to be President. LOL. Now that would do it! Chaos in the high rises.

And Ted Kennedy was insensitively asked whether or not he thought that similar to his family experiences, that Barack Hussein Obama might be in danger opposing Hillary. I do not remember the name of the media guy that asked Teddy the question but clearly Teddy is endorsing Barack H. Obama. A relatively unknown radio guy on WLS Chicago this morning thought it was a bad question to ask.

The WLS personality (Don W.?) said he was certain that if anything happened bad to BHO that it would be blamed on the vast right wing conspiracy and Bush. LOL. I suspect on the Muuve ahn dot o.r.g. crowd this would indeed be the case. No mention was made of the long list of Clinton cronies and associates who died odd deaths by the time I reached my destination in the car. And no mention of Hillary's friend Vince Foster. But the innuendo was all over the 'other' reporter for asking the question of Teddy, and all over Don W of WLS for mentioning a prior strategy to blame the vast conspiracies Hillary believes in.

OK these are merely musing but they are musings on items in our media these days and they do point to loopy times indeed. I'm not fond of the Hillary/Bill campaign or of Barack's rhetorical schmoozing of his disgustingly pro-abortion positions (opposing parental notification, supporting taking minors out of State for abortions against parental wishes in States with parental notification) and even being FOR partial birth abortion.

I waffle on which of the pro-life candidates I dislike the most, Mitt or John. I prefer Mike Huckabee but pragmatic evangelicals who only listen to the MSM tell me he CANNOT win though they didn't think he could or would win Iowa either, or still be in the race. I see the NRTL says Huckabee has the strongest pro-life record but even they won't endorse him after their shell shock endorsing Fred the fizzle Thompson. Crazy days. Crazy questions. Crazy positions. Personally, I'd prefer a Mike Huckabee candidacy with a McCain or Romney veep to the other way around.

But this is clearly NOT the classical, conventional, MSM peddled 'wisdom'. I don't care. I like Mike.

I like Mike also. I tend to think, though, that the GOP establishment has wanted to dilute Christian influence in the party for a long time. This primary season afforded them a great opportunity.

I also don't think its coincidental that evangelicals are having theological problems i.e. the Emergent Church idea during this political season. Isn't it interesting that the EC has a definite leftward drift in it, and that so many evangelicals are embracing it in the idea of "social and economic justice."

Yes the emerging does tend to be left leaning. They gripe about "the church" continually but then accuse anyone who is 'critical' of being divisive! In short they can and do gripe about the evangelical church (they are 'recovering' from it). They can and do gripe about conservatives (don't mix values, ethics, truth with justice or politics!) they'll say. They'll also rail about family values that don't touch their favorite justice issues (redistribution of others wealth, hiring and favoritism quotas by gender or race or politic if it isn't GOP). They fear evangelical influenced nations aren't liked enough so they prefer talk of appeasement, cultural relativism, the UN, chatting with Iran and Syria to let them understand we are nice and harmless...). But just you try mentioning that they are being critical, divisive, and judgmental about such matters and others to numerous to list. Try it. They get all incredulous and don't see the log in their own eye, whatsoever. But watch out for their wrath on you. Oh yes, they don't believe in wrath, but for you, in this case... Better watch out anyway. LOL. They are a real hoot, except they do have power and this is rather frightening during elections, criminal trials, at times of war with jihadist terrorists, when affirming culture of life and constitution valuing justices, marriage, family, parenting... Frightening in these contexts. As little chatter boxes on old media TV or tenured old lecturers at debates in Ivory towers, fine. But in the public square affecting policy... "O'Barack a Bomb a Bill-llary-Hussein-McCain" Mercy!

I had known for some time that John McCain forgot whatever heroic qualities he once had as soon as he got home from Vietnam, and soon left his wife for a younger and wealthier woman. But only recently did I learn further that his first wife Carol was CRIPPLED by an accident before he returned from captivity. As you know, Joe, I am now married myself to a woman who was disabled in a car crash, and somehow I am so unsophisticated as to feel that her handicaps are NOT an excuse for me to be unfaithful.

This being so, in the absence of clear contrition on the part of John McCain, I don't see how I can vote for him EVEN IF the alternative is Queen Hillary.

Joseph, you may find yourself like me, not voting FOR someone but against someone.

The big east coast banker Blomberg (sp?) might toss his hat in the ring...some say or rather threaten. Nader is back in the game saving the world from free market capitalism. There's much talk of social and economic conservatives running a 3rd Party (but there's already three with Nader! LOL).

You may have lots of choices, bold musketeer. I'm sure you will do so wisely. I greatly prefer Huckabee to McCain but wonder if John ever made peace with his X and how the alleged new, not-so-hot-headed McCain is doing with such matters. Those choices of his were evil but I do wonder where he/they all stand today. People can change.
