A Song for Ward Churchill

this is an audio post - click to play

In the spirit of Christmas, this song is dedicated to Ward Churchill and all the twisted, formerly unquestioned, liberal professors of his ilk. Enjoy.

For a bit higher quality sound (this was composed and sung over a cell phone while in transit), click here for a bit better sound, diction, and all the lyrics typed out.

Before my Mary was called home to
Heaven, I was working on a Master's
degree at the University of
Maryland. You can't walk fifty
yards on that campus without
seeing some indication of wild
hatred felt by students and
faculty against (1) Christians,
(2) capitalism, (3) the U.S.
armed forces, (4) Israel,
(5) sexual normalcy, and
(6) did I mention Christians?
Ward Churchill would feel at
home there; and yet I had one
teacher tell me that U. of MD
is much LESS leftwing than
many other universities!

Heck, why not do another posting
of my existing material? The
following song lyric has relevance
to the subject of what clods like
Ward Churchill want to do to the
human race. (I'm sorry I don't
have online audio technology;
then again, if I did have such
technology to play with, I might
never get anything else done.

The song was written in 1993, give or take a
bit. The melody was my one and only attempt at
reggae. (If I were writing this song today, I might
say "Ukrainians" where I say "The Russians" in
the second refrain.)
Now as back then, I find it remarkable that
people who want unlimited "choice" in sexual
self-indulgence are willing to be left with NO
choices at all about what kind of government
to live under, by reason of the whole human
race having one universal, inescapable regime.
Hence what is really one of the most common-
sense-based songs I ever composed.
(For the benefit of eschatology-emphasizing
friends: yes, I perfectly well realize that at some
time the world must be allowed to fall under the
very kind of tyranny I'm denouncing, and that then
only the return of Jesus will bring liberation. But
as long as we are living in history as we know it,
we must do what King Theoden told the Riders of
Rohan to do: keep on opposing the darkness even
if it is temporarily hopeless.)

"THE ONE-WORLD MACHINE"

Let me tell you something you might not believe,
'cause it's so heavy,
About my friend of twenty years or more,
whose name is Geoffrey.
Now pay attention when I tell you: Jeff and I
have never
Been chopped in little pieces and cooked in a
soup together.
And we've never been whipped into mush in
anybody's blender;
We've kept our own identities, each knows his
name and gender;
Yet, even though we've never melted in one shapeless mixture,
We're truly friends--don't faint on me, just try to
get the picture!

We don't make our friends in an eggbeater bowl;
Each has his or her individual role.
The same thing applies to the whole earthly scene:
True peace has no need for the One-World Machine.

Let me say a word about young Annemarie,
my pretty daughter:
She flew to us from South Korea, far across the water.
Adopting her was brought about with effort, faith
and patience,
Not needing to be supervised by the United Nations.
Now we're teaching Annemarie the difference
between good neighbors
And those who jump the fence to steal the fruit of
all your labors.
I gladly share my wealth--but under God, I should
control it;
If New Age pushers get one cent of mine, it's 'cause
they stole it!

The Russians could tell you how they came to hate
The rule of an all-seeing, all-taking state.
Let's learn from their sufferings, not go where
they've been;
Let's not get sucked inside the One-World Machine.

At some universities, the students all will think
you're noble
If you can say the buzzwords of a village that is global;
But if we really get a global town with just one mayor,
What happens when the mayor turns out to be
a betrayer?
When South Vietnam fell, at least there was a place
that folks could flee to;
But if one gang is running the whole planet,
what can we do?
We must inspect this book, not just admire the
pretty cover;
Some people's plans for "brotherhood" are really
for Big Brother!

There's room on this Earth for more countries
than one;
Let's not force all burgers inside the same bun!
If we lose our freedom, think what that will mean;
It's high time we shut down the
One-World Machine--Machine--Machine.

Joseph, thanks for the song on the one world machine, inspiring me with the red-nosed reindeer tune and for your posts here.

Sadly not much has changed in the campus environments but Christians ARE still witnessing and discipling colleagues. New rumblings of evangelism are breaking into the fraternity sorority system again to God's glory, and new stirrings are happening among graduate students (frequently the university teachers) and faculty.

But as God said to Joshua, I still hear it as for my life and times 'you are getting older and more advanced in years and yet there is still much more land to possess.' Of course the application in my contexts is that the university, my focus of ministry, is still a stronghold for every regressive, prideful, false doctrine as well as a place of huge possibilities for discovery of truth and God's word and world, and honoring His image in broken humanity. Sadly we have more of the former still than the latter. But God is 'on the move', to use 'Aslan-speak'.
